EN14458:2018 Face Shields and Ocular visors certification update
The revision of the above standard in 2018 was mainly aimed at correcting points that were unclear or confusing in the previous version, and at harmonising certain test protocols. Key evolutions mainly concern modification of the method for measuring the coverage area, the elimination of full optical testing after exposure to chemicals, test temperatures harmonisation between the face shield and the helmet used (-30/60°C), harmonization of the test method for resistance to molten metals and hot solids, and finally a definition of two categories of face shield for protection against radiant heat.
While certifying our face shields to that new version, we took this opportunity to change the tint level of our gold face shield version (2C-2 instead of 2C-2.5). The clear ocular visor was also in the scope of that new certification. Please refer to your local sales team to get further information and/or latest certificates of conformity.
