EN ISO 15384 Test methods and performance requirements for wildland firefighting clothing
There have been some minor amendments to this standard, e.g. updates to testing requirements, and the correction and clarification of wording. Following a successful ballot, the amendments are being finalised. We expect this to be published imminently.
ISO 23616 Cleaning Inspection & Repair of Firefighter PPE
This sets new cleaning standards for firefighter PPE, including helmets, coats, trousers, gloves, boots and respiratory protection. All comments from the first two ballots have been addressed. The final ballot will take place later in the year, and we expect it to be published early to mid 2022.
EN 13911:2017 Requirements and test methods for fire hoods for firefighters
Particulate protection is being added to this standard. A draft is being prepared.
ISO 11999 Test methods and requirements for PPE used by firefighters who are at risk of exposure to high levels of heat and/or flame while fighting fires occurring in structures
This standard is split into the following parts:
- Part 1 General
- Part 2 Compatibility
- Part 3 Clothing
- Part 4 Gloves
- Part 5 Helmets
- Part 6 Footwear
- Part 7 Face & Eye
- Part 8 Hearing
- Part 9 Fire Hoods
Part 1-6 and 9 are being updated. It’s likely that particulate protection will be added and that each part will just have one level of protection.
Project Group leaders have been appointed for parts 1 to 6 and drafts are being reviewed.
Part 9’s revision is further along in the process. The first draft received a positive vote from the committee and a second draft is being produced.
