This Product Information News (P.I.N.) article is being released to inform C.A.R.E. technicians of an additional step in the visual inspection that will now be required for the MSA Fire Service G1 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

This P.I.N. article is an additional notification to the User Safety Notice on the G1 second stage regulator hose that was released on February 3, 2022.  In that User Safety Notice, we advised all end users to inspect MSA Fire Service G1 second stage regulator hoses for, among other things, a bulging hose condition while the SCBA is pressurized during the visual inspections that are conducted daily and after each use. The P.I.N. article does not replace this daily inspection.

MSA wants to increase the opportunity for visual inspection by requiring the additional inspection described in the attached P.I.N. article as a practice for our C.A.R.E certified repair technicians. The visual inspection instructions that follow provide an additional level of inspection at the C.A.R.E. technician level and must be conducted on all G1 Fire Service SCBA that are brought in for repair and service, in addition to any G1 SCBA in for annual flow testing.

Please review the P.I.N. article and don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
