1/19/2023
  • Head, Eye, Face and Hearing Head, Eye, Face and Hearing
Global versions of the V-Gard H1 Safety Helmet (Novent and Bivent) are now compliant to impact requirements of EN 12492. This applies to all non-CSA version H1 helmets manufactured after January 1, 2023.

Global versions of the V-Gard H1 Safety Helmet (Novent and Bivent) are now compliant to impact requirements of EN 12492. This applies to all non-CSA version H1 helmets manufactured after January 1, 2023. All new logo orders will be compliant and all new production will also be compliant. Existing inventory and fielded product manufactured prior to that date are not compliant to these requirements and can not be retrofitted as such. Compliant helmets can be identified in the following ways.

  • By manufacturing date: manufactured after December 2022
  • By individual carton: we’re updating the H1 carton to be lighter weight, more sustainable, and to have a cut-out so you can see the helmet. All Novent/Bivent helmets in the new carton will have the EN12492 lateral impact benefit
  • By overpack case: we’re using a purple label on the cases of new helmets

All existing ANSI and EN approvals remain in place for both new and older versions of this helmet.

Please see the attached letter which provides a summary of standard approvals and compliance for these helmets. Also included are images showing the foam liner used in helmets produced before and after January 1, 2023.
