Earlier this month, the NFPA approved a Temporary Interim Amendment (TIA) to NFPA-1971:2013, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting stating helmets with items installed or attached (accessories) must meet the affected design and performance requirements of this standard.

This TIA does not impact MSA since we have been consistently testing and certifying all of our Cairns Fire Helmets with accessories (e.g. front-pieces, front-piece holders, Bourkes) for nearly two years.  If you have any questions, please contact your Cairns Fire Helmet Distributor or MSA Customer Service at 1-877-MSA-FIRE.
