Change to Cairns® Fire Helmets with Defender® Visors

Since launching in 2008, the Defender Visor has become the most popular eye/face protection option in the Fire Service. Available in five MSA Cairns models, the Defender Visor offers the protection required by NFPA-1971 in a design that allows firefighters to minimize their helmet's profile better than traditional external visors or goggles.
As of late-February, these models will no longer feature the Heat Shield (P/N 10074432). This is the die-cut piece of flame-resistant flannel that covers the opening between the front portion of the helmet's shell and the Impact Cap Assembly. Testing has proven that the heat shield was not needed for protecting the Defender Visor. There is no effect on compliance with this change; all Defender models are still compliant to NFPA-1971:2013.
