We’re excited to highlight a really special CSR effort - establishing a new partnership with U.K.-based non-profit FIRE AID to help protect firefighters in developing countries. Read the full article for more details.

At MSA, safety is our mission; but creating a better world is our goal. In line with that socially responsible mission, more than two years ago, we established a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) steering team to define our strategic approach to these kinds of efforts. Since then, we’ve carried out many projects around the world that have had a positive impact on people’s lives and health, as well as the natural environment.

In this recent, and really special CSR program our new partnership with U.K.-based non-profit FIRE AID will facilitate the deployment of second-hand Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to firefighters in underserved countries, who often have limited resources and access to protective equipment. Under the three-year partnership agreement, MSA will aid in the logistics and fund the transportation costs associated with all donated or replaced SCBA originating from the U.K. Fire and Rescue Services. To ensure proper use and maintenance, we will provide training and support to the brigades receiving the equipment. The company will also provide a direct donation of new MSA firefighting equipment, providing these fire services access to the latest technology in firefighter personal protective equipment.

Emergency responders from impoverished countries will be able to better protect themselves and the public in cases of emergency. It may be hard to believe, but in many parts of the world, firefighters still perform their duties in precarious conditions and sometimes fight fires without the equipment that properly protects them, putting their lives at risk.

MSA and FIRE AID share the common values of helping to protect lives and creating a safer world. Founded in 2014, FIRE AID is an association of charities and services with a mutual interest in providing ethical and sustainable donations of fire and rescue equipment, as well as training services, to those in need in more than 50 countries around the world. The non-profit organization has longstanding experience in coordinating humanitarian aid projects, facilitating product donations, and supporting the volunteer efforts of firefighters around the world to help train more than 5,000 firefighters residing in countries in need. More information on FIRE AID can be found here.

As the leader in safety, we are well aware that a commitment to the public and CSR-related issues is important to our customers. Through partnerships like this, MSA endeavors to inspire you to take socially responsible actions to protect lives and a sustainable environment.
