Replacing a Silk-screened Front Holder with a Carved Holder on a Leather Helmet
-
Fire Helmets
In the event that you need to replace a silk-screened front holder on a leather helmet with a carved front holder, please note that the rib hole nearest the top of the dome may not align properly.
We expect to have a solution to this issue by the end of 2012. Should you need to make this upgrade in the mean time, you can seal the rib hole and drill a new one without voiding the warranty or affecting the OSHA or NFPA 1971-2007 certification on the Cairns® N5A New Yorker and N6A Houston™, respectively. Please follow these steps:

Remove the silk-screened front holder.
Fill the rib hole closest to the top of the dome with Loctite #5510 Adhesive Sealant.
Allow the sealant to cure for 24 hours.
Place the carved front holder on the dome's front rib, aligning the first and second holes with the corresponding holes in the rib.
Mark and drill the third hole.
Install the carved front holder.
