Doug Nugent, The Shaw GroupDoug wrote, "My MSA story goes back fifteen years. My safety career found me in a shipyard in Houston, Texas. To say that I was utterly amazed at the level of safety programming, or the lack thereof, would be an understatement. Each turn brought new opportunities to introduce basic safety principles to an industry that only recently had a CFR dedicated to it. One area of primary focus was respiratory protection. An evaluation of the current supply of respirators, practices and training found that change was in order. Enter MSA.

Through a partnership with MSA, we were able to upgrade our respirator inventory at all six facilities; providing greater protection to the employees. This partnership then moved to a relationship with MSA becoming the fleet’s preferred supplier of safety equipment. All facilities were outfitted with MSA instrumentation, fall protection equipment and other personal protective equipment. The service provided by MSA has long outlived that shipyard.

I have now moved into the wonderful world of power plant new construction and MSA has been along with me every step of the way. No matter the need, lead time or complexity, MSA is always there. The relationship I have with my Territory Account Manager, Diana Nelson, has grown from the traditional manufacturer/customer dynamic to a true friendship, built on mutual gain and trust…and it all started in a small shipyard fifteen years ago."
